Not trying to spam the forum with builds just joined and getting caught up is all!

Done up as the movie aircraft without the blotchy green camo of the real thing.

Capture from the movie

Sorry. Not the best pictures but the thing is just so big it challenged my photography skills.

Very cool! Love the battle damage! You did a great job replicating the movie!

I watched about 10 one minute clips of that movie over and over and over and over and over.

Looks very good! Aside from the battle damage and flight control surfaces, did you do any other changes to the basic model?

And don't worry about "spamming" the forum with your models. Your posts are showing modeling and models, unlike many of the posts on here nowadays. Keep up the fire.

Thanks!

Just didn't want to end up being "that guy" where people open up the forum and go "not him again". I like to share my modeling and of course everybody at home has reached the "Oh another? That's nice" stage of acceptance.

The kit was the old 1990 Revell release of the Belle. The only alterations I made were the control surfaces and damage, the rest is straight out of the box. I felt the interior was adequate since the whole goal was to get the exterior damage to look right for the movie clips. I was very nervous using the 30 year old decals but after bleaching in the sun for a week to get them white again and liberal use of setting solvent they behaved. I actually like these old kits with the raised panel lines since I can get some great effects with weathering that just don't work as well with engraved.

Interior with an excessively heavy tinted Future was to make it look busier than it really is through the limited view of the windows.

Some internal structure added to flaps just to give interest. Close to accurate but not fanatical about it.

Rudder and elevators separated and gaps either blocked off or filled with structural components. Again not 100% accurate but just enough to busy it all up.

All damage that passed through the aircraft was done with heavy aluminum duct tape. Was put on roughly panel shaped and then poked through from other side after paint went on.

Yep, posting photos of models never constitutes spam!  And it's always great to see classic kits of the B-17 getting built.  The battle damage you did looks great!

I have an original boxing of the Monogram B-17G which I really should get aroud to building.  I also have some cans of Spam in the cupboard.  They are low(er) fat & sodium, but don't taste any less bad for you than the regular stuff!  Stick out tongue

MMh!

Loco Moco!

It certainly looks like a -17! I think you were right to ignore the interior as it wasn't the point of your build and would have slowed everything down. The battle damage is well done. I don't know how she held on to her rudder.
