Since I got back into modeling, I've been working on techniques for more realistic looking results. I purchased a 1/48 Revell Spitfire Mk II on sale for cheap and figured this would be a good test for some techniques for the Tamiya birdcage Corsair and couple Eduard kits I have stashed.
I read pros and cons of panel line shading and black basing, and thought I'd try a mix of the two. I did a mix of some panel shading, varied the darkness of the black base and left some gray primer showing too. I've only done the underside so far. I think it looks ok, and will be supplemented with further weathering, soot, oil, etc. I worked the color up using many thinned coats of paint. The last picture shows what the black base coat looks like. There's a lot of experience here, and I welcome any feedback, critiques, and suggestions. Thanks!
