MQ-9 Reaper
Posted by Real G on Friday, March 17, 2023 1:44 PM

With the video on the news showing Russian Su-27s playing chicken (or is it "Fart on the dog"?) with a US RQ-9, I remembered I had this kit in the stash.

I had recently read that the latest Reapers have a four bladed prop (WITHOUT one with a bent tip!) and winglets.  Can someone point me to references showing what has changed?  I might want to build a current RQ-9.

I had done some diddling with the kit before putting it away.

Cool.  I was thinking the same thing - I have the Kinetic boxing of this kit so very interested to follow along.

Thanks,

John

I am considering skipping my usual "Let's complicate this project" mantra and just doing it OOTB, with just the Caracal decals.  The NASA markings are intriguing, but I am leaning towards an armed version with the Hellfires and LGBs.

Don't forget about the bent prop. That's how we use them now. And, how does one simulate raw fuel on the paint work? Asking for a friend.

No no no no, according to the Russians, the RQ-9 was violating international airpsace, when it suddenly performed evasive moves without any provocation, then crashed into the sea due to operator incompetence.  The SU-27s were just there to see if the enemy drone was lost, or if it just needed a hug, a Kleenex, a band-aid or something.  The vapor seen in the video was from their onboard juice box dispensers, being deployed to attempt to entice the drone to safety.  The only real question that remains unanswered - was it grape or lime flavored?

OK sacastic mode switching off now.

Loked like lime to me.  Perhaps a good Russian tequila?!?  Wink

I have that kit, but unfortunately, a couple of parts came up missing, so it's back in the box.
