Monogram A-1H Skyraider Finished!
Posted by cbaltrin on Friday, July 28, 2023 11:34 PM

Hot off the workbench! Here is my Monogram A-1H Skyraider, with a few after-market bits.

Most enjoyable build I've done in a while!

Paints are Tamiya Acrylic and Lacquer.

Great job on the Skyraider!  Love that SEA paint scheme.  Monogram's price and Tamiya's quality.

Love it! I have one that's gonna be done up in Navy colors. I think I need to get a SEA Skyraider on my shelf. Great work!

Hmm...well, that would meet the criteria of my theme for 2023...

Super nice work on the Spad, something about that SEA scheme that sets the standard for camo. I've always thought the Spad was one of those airplanes that served well, and without much fanfare.  Loved the sound of that 3350 engine when it barked into life, they used to say you could tell the experience level of a Spad pilot by how small of a fire he could start when firing it up.

Great job, thanks for the post and photos.

Thanks Patrick,   I agree, nothing like the sound of a big radial. I recall when a F4U-5 showed up one morning on the flight line at Miramar.  I remember well the sound of that R2800 coming to life...
