easy build aircraft kit recommendations
Posted by davenport49 on Saturday, December 23, 2023 2:19 PM

I need some recommendations for an easy build prop aircraft kit for my 7-yr-old grandson that he and I can work on together.  Please let me know your suggestions.

Thanks

Merry Christmas.GMorrison

I was about that age when I started didn't have the options of Klick to gether kits like revell and others ..I think some of the revell kits like the p51D whould be a good choice..there are others. Water based paints . All you have to do is teaching the responsibility of the dangers of using glues ,paints ..I'm pretty sure you got that covered in spades..

The Testors/Hawk R3C2 is pretty good choice, or the Testors F8F.  They go together well and fit is pretty good. Not too mamy parts.  It's pretty hard to find a new kit that isn't too complicated or has too many delicate parts.  I have built many kits with two of my grandchildren in the last 3 or 4 years.  You need to find a balance between what teaches them and pleases them.

I've had a great time with both Hobby Boss and Zvezda snap-fit/easy build/quick build kits. They're well- engineered and generally have excellent fit.
