Presenting the Model USA/Roden/Hasegawa 1/48 scale L-19/O-1 Bird Dog . . .

I finally finished a build, my first for 2024. I started this kit right after Modelpalooza back in October. A friend gifted me the kit after I told him I have some time in an O-1/L-19. He told me the kit would not be an easy build. Boy, he was correct. This little kit fought me from beginning to end. This is a kit you don't want to take on unless you are an experienced modeler. Next time I build this kit, and I will, I'll fix all of the bad fits, especially how the clear parts fit.

Now, let me present to you the Model USA/Roden/Hasegawa 1/48 scale Cessna O-1/L-19 Bird Dog (BTW: The big antenna is a scrub brush bristle).

OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...

Looks good Frank.  I ended up selling my old Model USA kit ages ago after test fitting a few parts.  Looked like a lot of work and I wasn't that big on the subject to begin with.

Sure like your build!

Thanks,

John

fotofrank, that's a nice looking build. I especially love the nose art. Reminds me of all the labradors I've owned, especially the current one. It looks like a fun little build. I may have to get myself one.

Nice work!

Thank y'all for the kind words. Yeah, the kit was a really tough build. Even so, I'll find another kit to build it better and to go with the ICM O-2 I picked up at JAXCON last week.

Ironically(?), two or three vendors at JAXCON each had one of the Model USA kits.

I guess I missed an opportunity.

Nice!!  My Dad went to 'Nam to fly those.  Luckily, he got out of those before even getting through FAC training!

I've got that kit, almost done, but I broke the LG. It is up on my shelf of doom until I make a new gear leg.

Fine work.  And love the scrub brush bristle.  Creativity is key.
