I accidently broke my canopy of my Grumman wildcat. I contacted Tamiya nd am awaiting a reply. Anyone have some experience with them when it comes to repair parts? I still have the old canopy and could use it for a master if the need be. thanks Bill

Usually for parts from Tamiya, you have to call them directly and I've found them to be VERY helpful and friendly. You'll find them here: (800) TAMIYA-A. You have to buy the whole parts tree that your canopy come on in the kit but I wouldn't expect it would cost more than $6-10 with shipping all told. Give them a ring and see what they say.

If you are in Canada, try going to the LHS you bought the kit from and get them to contact Borgfeldt Canada (the Tamiya importer) to get the parts. I did this for some people as a LHS owner, and if they ever charged, it was a nominal amount. I imagine shops in the States have a similar service.

I contacted TAMIYA a few months ago about obtaining a replacement part for my 1/32 A6M5 ZERO. I was told that the parts tree I needed was not in stock and that they use parts trees from returned kits. They would not order parts tree from Japan. I was told to check back in a month to see if they had a kit that had been returned. I am sure this dont happen often, but be prepaired.

I was fortunate when I called about a canopy for my Beaufighter that I had lost-- the guy said there was a spare one sitting on his desk...sent it out for free to me. I guess it depends on what's on hand or whether they need to send a whole tree I guess...

I think they are very responsive. I was working on the ME262 and could not find the weight that goes in the nose. I looked and looked and looked, no where. They gladly sent me a replacement. When I finished the build and was packing up the box, there was the original weight where they said it should be, stapled to the inside of the box. I am an idiot and I think they are a great company!
