A7D Corsair II
Posted by tweety1 on Thursday, May 6, 2004 8:30 AM
Hey allSmile [:)]

Ok, just wondering if anyone has any links to decent photos of an A7D cockpit, and any of carrier based A7D's landing.

I would like to pose my current model after completion landing on a carrier deck, but images of this craft seem to be a little hard to locate.

One of the biggest problems is getting the air brake to appear correct.
Also is there anyone on this forum who actually worked on one of these planes, and could advise me of fluid leaks etc?

Thanks in advanceSmile [:)]

Sean check Aircraft Resource Center. First of all the D model was only used by the Air Force. The A and E models were used buy the Navy. I think that you might have better luck looking under Air Force and Navy sources their are images out there just keep looking. Good luck.

hey tweety1,
I used to work A-7D's when I was in the Air National Guard, I think your thinking of the other A-7's, the USAF only used the A-7D's after the A-1's where worn out and they where the stop gap plane for the A-10's, the Navy had great success with the Corsairs II's as with the AF, I know there is an awsome resin A-7 cockpit out by Blackbox & Aries and you can get them at Squadron or Great Models Webstore, but they are a little pricy but I think they are worth it though and it'll make the plane look great, another place to get info is check out A-7 in Scale & Detail books, they have great pixs of the front office as well as the wheel wells and avionic bays

I'm working on an A-7E model and have that Aires cockpit, it is indeed awesome! I have a pic of it mostly finished, but I haven't had it developed just yet. Hang on a sec and let me see if I can get a good cockpit photo of a D model. I may have to email you a pic or two also Tweety, but I do have some around here somewhere.

Glad I could help out. I had most of that bookmared as I have been going through that exact same search recently. I also picked up the Seamless Suckers resin intake, and it looks very nice. It looks nice, and there aren't any seams. It may be a bit of a challenge to make it work along with the resin cockpit, but I'm a patient man.

Let us know how yours comes out.
