nkm1416's Shark of Zambales (Pics)
Posted by shrikes on Thursday, May 6, 2004 10:11 AM
nkm1416 asked me a while back to take some pictures of a P-51he dressed in Philippine Air Force colors. You may have seen this particular bird at the end of the P-51 Article of last year's Warbird Modeling. It took quite a while, but here they are! Big Smile [:D]

The Pictures themselves aren't very good; entirely my fault Sad [:(]. I was using my father's new Digicam, and i couldn't get the damn thing to focus correctly (in the last one, it focused on the background and not on the subject!), and the flash would wipe out all the detail if i used it, so it's a bit dark Dunce [D)]. The model, on the other hand, is superb! nkm went all out on this one, but I'll let him be the one to explain things. I hope my sad photography skills don't detract from the model. Enjoy! Smile [:)]

In the 60's there was a Phil Air Force Mustang at the PMA Grounds in Baguio City. Is it still there? You did an excellent job on your model.

Thanks shrikes for posting this. Thank you guys.

Saltydog, sigman, the markings are decals from Microscale/Superscale Sheet# 72-149. Kit is Hasegawa (1/72)

I've wanted to post this model when I saw the same a/c included in the P-51 profiles in Warbird Modeling to show the right colors of the national insignia which should be blue instead of green. Green portions of the emblem on the tail should be blue also. Of note is the sharkmouth. There were several P-51s painted 'Shark of Zambales' but there's variation in the sharkmouth design.

The photos are a little fuzzy but I could see the P-51 looks great. Great work, nkm! Will I be seeing this bird soon?
