It is ALMOST black. I built one a while back after looking at one of the real planes at the Seattle Museum of Flight -- http://www.museumofflight.org/ -- and here's what I did.

Start with semi-gloss blac, and add 30% dark flat blue. It looks black till after you paint it... then under the right light you can see a very slight blue tint to it.

I?ve just finished a 1/48 SR71 model and it is time to paint !!
How can I replicate the real color (sould be a blu-black color) ????
