I have had good success thinning to about 50% with a homemade thinner using 40% isopropyl alcohol and 60% water.I have also used this mixture to clean my airbrush with. I usually make about a gallon at a time.

Acrylic I use 50/50 or so. Its not exact though, it could be up to 60 percent thinner with 40 percent acrylic.

I haven't really used acrylic yet, but for enamel I thin to the consistency of whole milk.
