1:48 fighter pilots
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, April 22, 2003 11:26 AM
Does any company make a 1:48 scale pilot that would fit in a 1:48 scale Me109 or Fw190?

This is another hole in this genre that needs to be filled. I had to grind and grind on a P-51 pilot to try to make him fit, and I finally gave up. I always see ground crew and standing pilots in aftermarket kits, but everyone seems to be shying away from cramming somebody in those tiny cockpits.

Timodeller,
To answer your first question, I am not sure what co. makes just seated pilots.
This is maybe the next best thing as to actually sitting in the office.
Verlinden makes a set of three "Luftwaffe pilots" (No.1339) either boarding the a/c,resting against the cockpit or climbing out of the office. Verlinden does also a US Navy set like the above Luftwaffe set.
O yeah before I forget (DUH) Hasegawa makes a "Luftwaffe equipment set" (No X48-9) that comes w/ a few figures which includes a seated pilot. I am not sure if they make a US set?
Hope this helps ya out.
Flaps up,Mike

If you would listen to everybody about the inaccuracies, most of the kits on your shelf would not have been built Too Close For Guns, Switching To Finger

I think the Tamiya FW-190 and Mustang come with pilots, are these the ones you are Texas Dremel Massacaring? I think I have both of those kits, (do I Blackwolf?) Wink [;)]. If I do, you're welcomr to the pilots, I won't use them.

Unless you live in someplace like Tonga, I don't mind.

Eagle334,

I do believe you have both of those kits. And as of the last time I was in your workshop, they were on the left-hand side of the third shelf from the bottom of the... under the Hasegawa 72nd F-20... er... nevermind... Tongue [:P] lol

I know that you have one less of each, tho! (hehe)

Deja vu! I was looking for 1/48 modern USN fighter pilots since my Revell F-14D kit (85-4729) only came with one. I was also looking for flightdeck crew with cranials.
All out of Snakes and Nape, switching to guns...

Got the latest monthly supplement from Squadron yesterday. It has an ad for seated 1/48th pilots, allied and axis, supposedly for specific a/c types.

I may get so drunk, I have to crawl home. But dammit, I'll crawl like a Marine.

both Andrea Miniatures and Airwaves produce a seated german pilot cast in white metal....verlinden has a two pilot kit - both are sitting but are designed for open cockpit as one of the pilots is adjusting his chinstrap ( i used this one - and it looks good - on the tamiya Fw190A3 as their pilot was too thick and wouldn't sit properly in the seat nor would the canopy fit over him) and the other has his hands in the air portraying how he made his latest kill
