1/48 FW-190D-11 detail?
Posted by armorman on Thursday, April 24, 2003 10:06 PM
Anyone know where I can find some cockpit detail goodies for the Monogram 1/48 FW-190D-11? It's awful sparse in there.
Thanks,

There is a detail kit for the Tamiya D model by a company called Formatex, it may well fit the Rev/Monogram kit. 29 resin bits, including an engine. 37 brass bits. As for the kit, there is a fit problem (according to an old magazine article I have) with the instrument panel. The area between the wheel wells is wrong for a D, the wing was originally for an A model. Also check the shell case ejector chutes, you need new ones for the outboard cannon. Extend the u/c retract arms by 2mm or they're too short. Widen the fuselage slightly with a cut down cocktail stick just aft of the cockpit, or you get a gap between the fuselage & wings.
All the above tips were in the Dec/Jan '01 edition of tamiya modeller magazine, a British publication. Good Luck!
