The second release of the Hasagawa 1/32 scale Skyhawk was of the Blue Angle A-4. You would most likely have to pay more for that kit than you would for the new kit, the yellow Hammer decals, the paint, and a nice aftermarket cockpit set.
The Blue Angels Skyhawks are Super Foxtrots (Super Fs). They have an uprated engine and thus an enlarged intake. The intake is available in 1/48 scale but I have not seen this conversion item in 1/32 scale.
If anyone knows of the Super Foxtrot intakes for 1/32 scale would you please post that information.
The "Blues" aircraft (A-4s) had the leading edge slats "locked" in the up position, so in a static display or otherwise the slats should be in the full up position. The 20mm cannons were removed and the wings faired over where the guns protruded. See the Hasagawa 1/48 scale Blue Angle in the Revel/Monogram box released in the last couple of months.
The correct paint colors are available from Testors Model Masters, ie Blue Angles Blue FS#15050, and Blue Angles Yellow FS# ? (It's late and the mind drew a blank on the yellow FS#). I think I read somewhere the Gunze Sanyo also produces the "Blues" colors.
Speaking of Hasagawa kits in Revell/Monogram boxes, like the P-38E/F/G anf A-4 Blue Angle, does anyone know if the 1/48 Revell Seaking Helo is the Hasagawa kit?
Sorry to ramble on but I dearly love the "Scooter", especially in the "Blues" colors. rangerj
