The AGM-78 had a fiberglass radome which was covered with a black or light tan neoprene coating. I have seen some with a light gray radome. The missile body was gloss white.

All photos in my ref books show very dark coppery brown or black on active 105G's, with small black rectangle around the missile aft the nose, I have extensive ref material on 105's if more answers needed.

Just about every google hit shows the same photos of the AGM-78 from the Wright Patterson AFB Museum, which depicts a "coppery-brown" nose, but this site http://www.waffenhq.de/flugzeuge/agm78.html actually shows an F-4G with said missile attached and confirms the color.

AGM-78 STARM Paint questions...
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, May 3, 2003 9:17 PM
The paint guide for my F-105G says I need to paint the nose cones of its Standard ARM(STARM) missiles in the exact same dark tan it reccomends for the tan in its(the plane's) southeast asia camo scheme. The, I've seen paintings of STARMs that have insignia red nosecones, and a photo I've seen of a STARM shows it with a black nose cone! Which color should I paint it?!
