Look just ahead and below the wing root. Bewteen the wing root and the cowling you see two small door-shaped shutters and a little round (actually teardrop-shaped) thingy behind them. The round thing is the abovementioned butterfly, and that's where the bulk of your engine exhaust comes out. Put a generous amount of exhaust stain weathering there :).

Jaq:

The P-47D had three exhaust outlets:

No. 1: Turbocharger - large rounded outlet in front of the tail wheel.

No. 2 & 3: Behind the lower engine cowl on both left and right sides is an oil cooler outlet, followed by a deflector plate, followed by an exhaust port. The left and right exhaust ports had butterfly valves that metered the amount of exhaust gas that went to the turbocharger.

P-47D Razorback Exhaust
Posted by jaquadis on Saturday, May 10, 2003 10:30 PM
Good Evening,

I was wondering if anyone knows where the exhaust stubs are on the P-47D Razorback. I am doing a Monogram (yes, Monogram, not Revel-Monogram) P47D,and I am not sure where the exhaust stubs are for the exhaust. Any help would be great. Thanks.
