PB4Y-2G
Posted by Kagemusha on Saturday, May 10, 2003 11:06 PM
Does anyone know where I can get 1/72 clear vacuform parts of the Coast Guard version of the PB4Y-2G? I really need the nose, tail, canopy, and waist windows. I really hope that someone here can help me out. I have been trying to find these parts for years.

Thanks!

You might try Squadron. They seem to have just about everything. Hope it helps. - Ed

Matchbox made the PB4Y-2 Privateer in 1/72 scale kit # 40606. Kind of hard to find but it should be a good start. I could not find any pics og the G model but I hope these are about the same.

I can't help with a conversion kit, but there are a few great pics in "Air Freighters," published by Military Press, 1990. Are you building a fire bomber or an actual Coast Guard aircraft?

I already have several Matchbox kits, and I'm building fire tankers from Hawkins & Powers Aviation. My ultimate plan is to make a 4'x5' diorama of the front section of the homebase in Greybull, Wyoming. I've grown up around the now 4 tankers they have. They did have 7 flying: one is at the Yankee Air Museum in Michigan, another to the Naval Museum in Florida and just last summer, tanker 123 crashed fighting a fire in Colorado. Three of the last four are veterans of U.S. Coast Guard. I've already tried Squadron, no help from them. Also contacted other "specialty" hobby companies with the same result. Thanks for the helpSmile [:)]

Have you checked the New Zealand company Ventura? They would be the most likely source that I would know of. Squadron seems to be mostly single seaters. If they don't have it you may have to make your own. (hope you carve better than I do)

Here are some pics of what I'm looking for. The nose and tail.
