Your best bet in 1/48th scale is the Accurate Miniatures TBF/TBM Avenger. You will not be dissapointed.

I do belive Hasagawa makes a good 1/72 version. But I do not have firsthand knowladge of this kit.

Accurate TBM/TBF is a very good kit, if you are looking for hasegawa quality you will be happy with this one; maybe doesn't take too long to see a re-release, try on-line stores.

There also is the old Monogram kit but it 's a very distant second to the Accurate Miniatures kit (unless you enjoy a thorough challenge in superdetailing).

Agreed Aurora....

I built the Classic Monogram Avenger and didn't like it...I see it now and want to rush out and get an A-M one to replace it ;) It comes in blue plastic to save you the painting, and when I built it, I was naiive enough to think that a good thing LOL I hate looking at the thing now.

What they say is true - forget the rest and go for the 1/48 Accurate Miniature TBM. Absolutely worth the money. And as they are back in business, maybe they are already producing more of the TBF-1C and the TBM-3 kits.
Whatever they cost, they're worth it. Fantastic fit, great detail.
The only complaint I had was the smooth tires - I thought they used diamond pattern for carrier use and the grooved tires for land based machines. In all, not a very big complaint..........................

eBay has them listed all the time --- if you're willing to pay the price. Be careful to get the "boxed kit", not the "bagged" ones. Look at the pictures provided by the sellers. Pass if the box is white. The baged kits were the last gasp before A/M went under. I've heard they weren't as complete as the bosed kits --- vac canopies, no paint masks, ??????

Good hunting.

I just placed my order with Squadron, they had 2 different AM kits available. I chose the USS Hornet version. I also order the detailed wheels by (True Details of America)

Now the part I really hate........the waiting Big Smile [:D]
