I dont have a direct reference to the 423 mod but to carry one 4000 lb 'cookie' or 'blockbuster' a strengthening beam was added to the bay on the Mk 1C (also for torpedo drops) standard max load was 4500 lb but presumably this was spread - 9 x 500 lb or two 2000 lb hence the beam for a single load, might take some hunting to find a pic of what this beam looked like tho..........

I'm wanting to put a 4,000lb Cookie bomb in MPM Wellington Mk.1C, in the 4+ publications book it says a 4,00lb bomb could be put on a Wellington using a 'type 423 modification' does anyone know what this modification is?
