Un painted or silver painted, the wheel wells were painted in zinc chromate. The ones painted in SEA camo, the wheel wells were painted in white, along with the inside of the gear doors. All of the modeling references specify flat white but all the acft I worked on were painted gloss white.

F-105 wheelbay-colourquestion
Posted by tango35 on Thursday, May 22, 2003 3:31 PM
Hello everybody,
just sitting over th 1/48 F-105 thunderchief kit, i am a bit confused about the colour of the wheelbay. In the instructions is flat white the right colour. In my references i have some wheelbays with zinc chromate.
So, what is the right colour for the wheelbay for a F- 105 used during the vietnam war.
