1/24 Aircraft Models
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, May 22, 2003 5:11 PM
Does anyone know where we can find German decals for the Airfix range of 1/24 aircraft models? How about detailing parts for these birds, like the Stuka.

Best regards,

Paulo,

I remember hearing that there was a company in the UK which made large scale decals, specifically 1/24 decals. I regret that I cannot recall the name of the manufacturer, but there are a couple companies releasing new kits in 24th and there have been the usual decal releases to go with them. (ex: Trumpeter's P-51D)

Hopefully Trumpeter and other manufacturers will continue to venture into the large world of 24th and some new decals will be released alongside new kits.

The old Airfix offerings are still fairly decent by today's standards and I'm sure any new decals will look just as good on the old kits as they would the new.

Many thanks the information. Yes, these old Airfix 1/24 kits are nice and seems that the Stuka is the best of the pack.

Forgot about Mike Grant... Blush [:I]

And I wanted to confirm that I wasn't dreaming before actually writing it; it seems that Trumpeter is planning to release a few Bf 109's in 24th. So you can be sure that many a decal sheet will follow.

Also, a 24th Rufe?!? Wow...

You know, it's not that difficult to paint swastikas, certainly in 1/24th. In fac, there was an article in FSM that took you step-by-step through the process. I managed it in 1/72, without any problems.

Go to EagleProds they have 1/24 scale decals for BF-109, and JU-87, and CAMDECALS.com has 1/24 for P-51, and FW-190. The FW-190 even has swastikas for the tail.

A English company called ARBA do a 1/24th conversion kit to turn the FW190 into a long nosed D. You get a huge decal sheet with it, and it is a very good bit of kit. Mainly resin. You can contact them at: ARBAKITS@aol.com.

You can buy swastikas for different scales at Hannants in UK. The brand is Xtradecal. Try this link: www.hannants.co.uk. You will find it there.
I used this sheet to get the big swastikas for my Airfix Fw 190 in 1:24 which is shown on the LSP-site.
