Ahoy Ricardo,

I don't have any pictures for you, however, if you get on the internet and go to:

www.topedge.com/alley/squadron/pac/vf1hist.htm

you'll get a good history of VF-1 as well as some good pictures and links to other neat stuff. Its a place to start.

That's one!

This is the CAG bird, Bu.No. 158979, taken at Miramar in 1974. I'll find some more, hopefully, and scan them as well.

Okay, here's some more.

They're black and white, and somewhat poor quality, but useful, nonetheless. The first couple are of the CAG bird in the color shot.

More on the way, and hopefully color!

If you want a great reference, check out Scale Aircraft Modelling this month. They have an article that shows the markings for every F-14 squadron that ever existed. 8 pages! It even has a great reference for VF-1, although it's listed with the Independence for deck handling trials.

Well, i've reached a small dilema:
- I've been digging up in Torsten site (http://www.anft.net/f-14 - by the way, an excellent site about the "Turkey"!!!!!), and found out that the first's F14A Tomcats were slightly different from the current ones, especially in the back (http://www.anft.net/f-14/f14-detail-beavertail.htm) and the wing (http://www.anft.net/f-14/f14-detail-wingsweep.htm)...
So, it seems that i will build an VF-1 Aircraft with the incorrect kit!!!!!!!
The kit i'm building is an Academy 1/72 F-14A Tomcat...
Here's the pics...

Am i right, or no????
Can anybody help me with this????
Also, i've already donne the live load, but i think they're not correct for the early live load carried by the firsts VF-1 F-14A...
Can anybody tell me if this is right or no???

I agree, it's a great site with lot's of walkarounds, and it's in my favourites already, but regarding the f-14A, has only pics form the bottom part, nothing form above...

What i'm asking is if anyone can tell me wich format has the wings of the earlyers VF-1 F14A's...

Can anybody give me a hand in this????

Ricardo,

This is the wing glove configuration for the prototypes ONLY.

This is the configuration for all production aircraft, including early VF-1 birds.

As far as the beaver tail, it was seen in it's entirety only on prototypes and FSD aircraft. The very early production aircraft had a cut-down version of the beaver tail, and then the switch was made to the configuration seen on all modern day F-14's. I'll try and get some photos posted for you.

Per Lufbery, this photo shows what you need(you have the right kit) and confirms blackwolfscd info, plus shows the early VF-1 beaver tail.
All out of Snakes and Nape, switching to guns...

Well, you might be right, but i've seen a Revell kit (Ref. 40406) - maybe an Matchbox one reissued - that has the old stile wing glove, and has decals for the VF-2 (Buno 159020), VF-32 (Buno 159022) and VF-142 (Buno 159025).
It seems all aircrafts are from the same production pack...
But what's wrong here????
Haven't they donne the research right... or the aircrafts are really that way????
That's why i've been so confused around the VF-1 birds....

Can anybody share some lights around this one????
