I've seen this before and thought of modeling it. I do want to know HOW this happened though.
I have several pics like this-an F-16 with collapsed gear, F-4 in the barrier, etc. Najaco.com (parent company of Al-Jazeera TV) has pics of aviation accidents.

Many years ago, at an RAF base far far away, a bored fireman was driving his 6 wheeled Carmichael range rover fire engine around the pan. There was a long row of Tornado's side by side, hey, great slalom he thought. So he proceded to whizz between them. Now these wagons don't handle well at the best of times, and of course he got it wrong and impaled the truck on a left taileron which ripped off his roof. I'm not sure what happened to him, but I was one of the team that had to change the taileron. The cost of this bit of a/c?, 92,000 English Pounds, so thats what?, around 140,000 dollars?. This was in the late 80's,
I wonder if something similar happened to the police car above?

Too funny! It's just gotta be one of those drunken-MP-crashes-into-parked-aircraft stories! ;)

I know the story behind this. It was an security police airman - only in the Air Force a couple of years - was on the job but talking to his girlfriend on his personal cell phone. I was still in the Air Force when it happened so it was prior to May 2001. I remember seeing the amount of $$$ damage done, but can't recall the figures now... Don't recall the punishment he received either. He's most likely at Leavenworth today, pounding big rocks into little rocks.

A Yakima rack may have prevented that! Or maybe the car was being loaded on the center hardpoint?

That tornado vs rangerover story made me laugh, those carmicheal comando rangerovers weigh in at around three and a half tons!!! OUCH I drive a standard rangie ( just short of two tons) and they just don't like getting thrown around and handle like a cow rollerskating on ice when you chuck it into a bend hard, that fireman was a real "BRAINIAC" LOL...Gregers

I also heard the explanation about the cell phone...however: a reliable source who shall remain anonymous (hey, I'm in intel; can't help itBig Smile [:D]) told me it involved two Security Forces personnel in the car: one male and one female and...well, you get the pictureEvil [}:)]. I was still at RAF Lakenheath when our Safety office briefed us on this incident, so it had to be around 1998-1999 (at Eglin AFB or Tyndall AFB; can't remember which).

I do alot of installs for the local Police Departments, but I can't ever recall having them ask me to install an F-15 on (in?) the dash.

I can just imagine the police report:

A local MP sedan was struck today by a stationary on-coming F-15...
