P-66 color question
Posted by Woody on Saturday, June 7, 2003 1:44 AM
I'm working on a Vultee P-66 Vanguard and have gotten conflicting opinions on the cockpit and gear well colors. well guys what are the right colors, if I may pick your collective brains? P.S. Still looking for the same info on the Curtis Wright CW-21 Demon.

Woody:

Strictly a WAG, but I would think that the cockpit would be the same as the BT-13 and/or Downey-built Vengenace dive bomber, and the wheel wells would be the same as the Vengeance.

I have always thought the P-66 was a neat airplane - which kit, and how is it ?

I pretty much agree withJguignard about the Vultee colors. I've built the Sword kit and it builds up nicely. Saw a quarter-inch kit at the IPMS-Spartanburg show today that was nicely done-yellow zinc chromate throughout if I recall correctly. Kudos to Spartanburg, by the way, for a great show. - Ed

Well, Woody...

I haven't begun looking through my own stuff in earnest yet, but I did my usual snooping on the net. I think I exhausted just about all my regular avenues. I'm gonna have to break into that list of search engines I have.

Anyhoo, I talked to a pal at our Saturday Night Mafia's Groovy Get-together at Guido's and he is only aware of one book on the P-66. Also, he has had little luck in web searches. But I ain't givin' up yet!

As far as the possible similarity of the P-66 in this regard to other Vultee aircraft, it hasn't escaped me. My serious research efforts usually are broad and wide!! Wink [;)]

Steve, Thanks for your efforts and by the way I like your Tri-plane picture. If I can figure out how I can think of a picture or two I'd like to put by my sig. What is the translation of the quote? How's my driving? LOLTongue [:P]
