White ID Tail bans on P-47D Razorbacks in the ETO

Camoflague and Markings agree with Butz. Teh staabilizer markings are 24 inches in from the tip. The rudder marking is 30 or 36 inches down from the tip. It supposedly varied by serial location. B's & C's had their serial 3 inches above the center rudder hinge. D1's thru 3's had theirs in line with the top of the rudder trim tab. The rest are centered in the middle rudder hinge. As mentioned above, a picture of the subject helps.

I saw a simular post on another site but only this time it was about invasion stripes being applied. Again they had issued specs but most of the time like you said, they were done with mops, brooms and rags ect ect... Basically not two a/c were alike.
Did you ever get the feeling that the world was a black suit and you were a brown pair of shoes??
O'well back to my 262 AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH.......

12" & 15" were the issued specs, but if you want to faithfully reproduce a certain aircraft I'd try to find some photos to refer to. The shot below illustrates why:

As you can see, there's variations of the ID bands on various aircraft. Often times the stripes were ragged and of an inconsistent width, especially if applied in the field.

Now, most of the ID bands I've seen are uniform and straight, but this shot illustrates that there's an exception to every rule!

Whaz up Jaquadis,
In doing some research I found that the ID bans on the tails were 12 inches wide and the horizontal stabs were 15 inches wide. (P-47 Thunderbolt ,in detail & scale pg33).
