Wingle,

I am an incurable IL-2 fan. Although I haven't had much time for it lately. Anyhoo, here's a link to a thread with some screenshots. I keep meaning to get some more screenies, but I just never seem to be able to get back in the saddle lately. I'll make an effort tonite!

Without a doubt in my mind, CFS 3 destroys IL-2 Sturmovik!!! More aircraft variety, better missions, the list goes on and on and on. Did I mention you can actually fly some jets?!? Now you can see why I think this game is better than IL-2:S.

Deakon,

No disrespect intended, but dude you need to chill on the CAPS action pleaseSmile [:)].

I also am a fan of the flightsim...hehehe. I only have two of them though. CFS2 and F-18 Hornet, my son and I are eyeing CFS3. His birthday is next month so that will be up and running soon.

Simvation is awesome for downloads. I got a great P51D and F8F bearcat there among many many others.

As a hardcore computer geek, I have a passion for FSims, Tactical FPS's, or any other combat simulator. I'm one of those guys that will try just about anything! My favorite Flight Sim has to be EAW, just to shoot down B-17's in a BF-109. Oh, the joy of it all!

Here are the ones presently on my clunker:

Red Baron 3D
WW2 Fighters
Flight Unlimited
recently uninstalled Crimson Skies ( neat sim, but needed the space ).
also had Mig Alley on clunker at one time.

I don't own a computer (you can close your mouths now) but I have a coupla great combat flight sims for Play Station 2 that I love to play: Ace Combat 4 and Kuusen. My desktop flight sim playing buddies say they don't compare to the PC flight sims, but I have a good time with them.

Well not so much these days, but I used to be into Falcon 4, the avionics and weapons systems were very similar to the A4Ks I used to work on in the RNZAF, so all those courses I did for work were finaly useful for something...

I loved FS1 and European Airwar, that was great, nothing better than flying typhoons over Europe, although I never got the hang of defending those huge formation of B17s. The 262 was interesting but by far the best was the good old Hurricane during the Battle of Britain.

I'm not a patient man, so I can not find the time nor the willingness to learn playing and mastering any kind of PC/video games... That's why I always have so many kits on the go.

I prefer the scale and grandeur of Rowan's Battle of Britain. Show me a sim that puts as many planes in the sky!

With very talented and dedicated modders working on the released source code, many bugs have been squashed and new features added.

[edit] I forgot, it can also be played as a strategy game (with a dynamic campaign) from either side. Worth the price of admission on its own.

Ooooh! Lets see:
Janes F-15 (CLASSIC sim!)
Janes F/A-18
Janes Longbow anthology
Janes WW2 fighters
Janes IAF
Enemy Engaged Apache vs. Havoc
Enemy Engaged Comanche vs. Hokum (EE series is great! They're back compatible too, so you can fly all four Helo´s and in all 8 campaigns, which no two are ever the same.. I used to turn it on at night and just let the dynamic campaign run through the night.. So cool! Like having your own personal news channel)
DID F22
DI F18
Gunship!
Team Apache (Blah!)
Falcon 4.0
TFX
Flanker 2.0
F-19 (Remember that one?)
B-17 The mighty eighth (i.e. B17 II)
B-17 Flying fortress (i.e. B17 I)
F-117
F-15 2
Gunship 2000
A10 Tankkiller
Tried EAW, thought it was waaay to easy, even on its highest settings..
Aces over the pacific
Aces over Europe
I only liked the MS-FS series when you could still play around your own aircraft settings (ever try putting a 200hp engine and 100 foot wingspan on a cessna? Climbs like a homesick angel). Couldn´t blow anything up either, so got very boring very quickly..

Not all at the same time, mind..

I have Jane's WWII fighters

One thing though

Seems to be a never ending supply of opposing fighters!!

Anybody noticed that...would really like to see a flight sim with some realism added.....real missions...with realistic chances of meeting enemies etc

just my view

I've done a couple of Jane's sims, Microsoft's Combat sims 1 & 2 and Flight Simulator 2003, Mig Alley, Red Baron 3D and currently IL-2.

ive almost plyed them all and as far as realism goes ill have to stick with CFS3..
sometimes you run into an enemy patrol sometimes you come home with all your ammo loaded down. alot of different realizm settings and at 100% it get no better, you can acctually rip your aircraft apart by pulling back to hard and belive it or not ive been shot in the head and mision over while my plane was fine.
as far a graphics.. i dont know of a computer with high enough settings to go to the max, but explosions and smoking tracers and clouds are the gems.

i love to play online cause there is nothing better that man vs man fighting for there lives

i play CFS1, CFS2, and CFS3 on the zone im _17_Maj_Wingle5 and just _17_Maj _Wingle on CFS3 i hope to see you guys on one day!

Just bought MS FS 2002 with Abacus Carrier Operations the other day. So far Ive only managed to make the F-14 Tomcat nose dive off the cat, and I accidently hit the 64x speed selector and ended up with a tobaggning Tomcat. :) (something to do with a thing called trim)

I just got rid of my Mac ( hey, it was a gift for college o.k. ) earlier this year and got a PC. I have wanted to get a sim but I can only imagine how addicting one would be. Playing Ace Combat 4, which I know is hardly a sim, on my PS2 takes enough time away from modelling.

falcon 4.0 is the one I just can't turn off. IL-2 is pretty sweet. I'm having to build a new machine to put up with the graphical advancements. I am looking for some serious online dueling though. I'll try Vermont's WW2 On-line. Playing on line has me completely hooked.
