Buy a Monogram F-5E, paint it black and put Russian markings on it. I don't know of any decal makers that make Top Gun decals.

I don't think the markings for the 'MiG 28's' were standard Soviet markings.
If my memory serves me well it looked like a red star in a yellow ring.
I think Airfix did a1/72 F14 and an F5/mig 28 in top gun markings in the late 80's
I think I may still even have the F14 decal sheet somewhere

I read in that the black paint job in Top Gun was only for the movie. There are plenty of adversary decals on the market though, from kits and aftermarket.

Hi Thunderbolt I still have the airfix F5 in topgun marks (built). Oggy is right just a red star in a yellow ring on the tail fin. Airfix did the F14 with both Mavericks and Icemans aircraft markings they also did the A4 with (i think) jesters markings...Gregers

I know I am just bragging, but I worked at the model shop that has the F-14 and F-5 props for the movie hanging from the ceiling. I think they were 1:4 scale or something. They were partially blown up from the shooting for Top Gun

superscale does(or did) adversary markings for the F-5's and A-4's. I have the 1/72 sheet for the ones I'm working on. I think I found them on Squadron.com

I was stationed in Fallon, Nevada after the Navy had moved Top Gun there. The F-5's are flown by VFC-13 "Fighting Saints." The Navy Strike and Air Warfare Center "NSAWC" (which encompases Top Gun) flies F/A-18A's and B's, F-14A's and SH-60's. As far as I know, Top Gun (or any Warsaw Pact States for that matter) never opperated any black F-5's as seen in "Top Gun." Check out the sites listed below. Good luck!

Here is a website with pictures of the different VFC-13 markings:

Here's someone's F-5 modeled in VFC-13 markings:

Internet Hobbies sells a decal set for VFC-13 markings here:

I tried to do that plane many years ago (I was at high school), I can't help you on markings (i aborted during the painting phase). The plane is almost surelyu a T-38, but could also be a F-5F.

Whaz up T-Bolt,
Go to TwoBobs site www.Twobobs.net. You will find a few sets of decals for aggressor F-5s.
They are very well done too.
Any questions please feel free to e-mail me at Falcon42177@yahoo.com
Flaps up,Mike
