The Italeri kit isnt the reboxed fujimi, and is not perfect, also the monogram nose looks nothing like any photographs or line drawings of a tomcat that i have ever seen, prototype or production.
the rest of the kit isn't bad considering the age of the mould - but that nose needs replacing, the profile is totally wrong

I also didn't think it is a bad kit. I would much rather build the Monogram than the Italeri.

The Monogram 1/48 scale F-14A has the correct nose for the early production models. In all it is a very good kit and with a few modifications can be made into the later versions. The Italeri kit, if it is the one I saw, is a rebox of the Fujimi kit and has so many problems with it. For accuracy, the Monogram kit wins over the Italeri kit, hands down.

A friend of mine is building an Italeri F14 and a Monogram F14 at the moment.
He wanted to bin the monogram straight away , but I persuaded him to build both.
He was surprised at the difference in quality between the two which really showed when the noses went on.
My advice is to scour the net and look for an alternate nose because no F14
I ever saw looked like that - even after a crash!
It is an urban legend that the nose was sooooooo bad , it gave birth to the
after market parts industry!

The good news is that Monogram is very good natured when you have to call for kit parts, I have had to do it several times and have not ever had any problems, except that it usually takes several weeks to get them....

Do any of you guys (or gals) out there have a spare Monogram 1/48 scale F-14 nose cone that you would be willing to part with? I also need both the pilot's and RIO's control sticks. I wanted to see if any of you could help before I went to Revell/Monogram for brand new ones. If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!Wink [;)]
