Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, June 24, 2003 2:47 AM
Does anyone know where can I find cockpit photos of the AV-8B Harrier II? I''ll need them for my 1/48 Monogram kit, since I can't
get the BLACK BOX resin kit, I'll have to make it from scracht,
but I can't find photos showing the side consoles and cockpit walls. Can someone help me?

Hey zhuravlik,

I don't have much on side consoles or cockpit walls. (At least not that I've found yet!) But here's some shots that may be helpful in general:

I think this second shot may be of the front cockpit in a TAV-8B, but I'm not totally sure. However, it's a different aircraft than the one above.

Also, here's some links to a few decent AV-8 sites, general shots and decent walkaround stuff:

http://www.geocities.com/mcaschpt/index.html
http://www.harrier.org.uk/index.html
http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/walk-jet.htm

The first is a way-cool site, a buncha pretty good walkaround and general shots.

On the second site, enter and find the link to the Gallery where there's one decent shot of the cockpit showing the side consoles.

On the third site, scroll down a bit and there are three galleries .(and a fourth small gallery for the seat) There's a a few bad shots in these, but overall they're very useful.

I have no photos of the Harriers office but a book I have dose. In the Cockpit published by Blackcat in 1988 has two including one of the side console. The ISBA No is 0-7481-0115-2. This book contains pictures of cockpits and reviews of what the aircraft was like to fly. Included are:- Jenny. Eindecker, Pup, Focker Triplane, DH4, Ju52, DC3, Hurricane, Spitfire, various US, Jap, Russian and German aircraft up to the Concorde. Enough cockpit shots for most people. Dai

Thanks Blackwolfscd and Dai Jones for your help, I've downloaded all the photos you sent (they are great!, especially the photo of the windscreen) now I can detail the HUD accurately and I'm already looking for the book from Blackcat, I hope I can find it, so I can complete my cockpit but if I can't, thank you anyway.
