Hey Jason L
From what I could remember the only one that made an aftermarket set for the Viking in 48th was KMC (S-3B 48-4007).
Good hunting my friend!!
Flaps up, Mike

If you would listen to everybody about the inaccuracies, most of the kits on your shelf would not have been built Too Close For Guns, Switching To Finger

Angels One - I was looking at Google for ES-3A background info and came across this site and the picture. I had to grin because my partner and I just finished working on that exact plane. The actual graphics are slightly differant than shown. For example most if not all navy acft put the carrier designation on the fuselage not the vert stab. I'm an aircraft mechanic at the Aerospace Maintainence and Regeneration Center (AMARC) at Davis-Monthan AFB, Tucson, AZ. I'm surrounded by 4600 aircraft - 46 of which are S-3's. 35 more coming in the fall. If I can help with 'realism' just ask. Phil

Is their an upgrade or detail set for the 1/48 scale viking?
Any version will do.(even cod)
I know that their is several different decal sets out their for them.

I used to see them fly down in San Diego years ago.
When I was a kid walking to school I could hear the vikings coming in for landings at NAS North Island.
They made a very unusual woooooop woooooop sound.
Years later I was told thats why they were called Hoovers.

Big Smile [:D]Well again there is AMT/Ertl's 1/48th scale ES-3A Shadow which is long out of production. Hopefully Italeri will reproduce it since they have recently reboxed the Viking. I would be happy either way in either scale. I am also looking for this also. I haven't seen the 48th ES-3A for awhile even on Ebay. So this kit
may be hard to find. Cool [8D]

That is the Hasegawa kit, which is out of production at the moment. Best bet is Ebay or check any of the modeling sites that have a trading or swap forum that advertise kits that some modelers are selling or trading. You can also put your want ad there as well. I am also looking for one of these also.

The only ES-3 kit I know of was AMT's 1/48 kit of it from the mid 1990's.

As AMT would appear to have gotten out of aircraft kits completely, I'm not certain how easy it would be to find this kit.

Hello
I am trying to get a hold of a ES-3A Viking. The only kit I found is a ES-3A SHADOW CAGE OF SEA SHADOWS #HAS-00055 by HASEGAWA. Does any others make a kit? And Does anyone know where I can get this kit or other?
