F-16XL

If it were me, I'd wait for a good 48th kit (or a better 32nd). The Kangnam kit is about as big a bow-wow as you can get.

I can't say anything as regards fit; I haven't built one. But I've seen one of these built up and it looks really bad. Not that the builder did a bad job, they didn't. But they did build it SOB (Straight Outta da Box!) and the outline and shape really look horrible.

I'm not one of those fellas that walks around saying "this is wrong and that's wrong, the wrong shape, the wrong color the wrong this or that", matter of fact I can't stand those pompous types. But believe me, this one IS all wrong! It just looks so bad I can't express it here, as this is a family forum!

There are several photos on these evilBay listings. These aren't the best photos, but they do show that the kit is highly inaccurate, especially if you compare them with photos of the real Scamps.

Here is a review on the Revell 32nd kit. If I'm not mistaken, this may be the same kit. The description the builder gives of the corrections he had to make correspond with the photos (and my personal observations) of built-ups of the Kangnam kit.

If none of this matters to you, go for it. Two of those kits on evilBay are going for $20. But if you find accuracy to be of concern, forget this kit.

I dunno, what with all these Chinese kit makers bringing out almost everything under the sun, it's possible. Heck, if Panda's planning a 32nd B-17...

I'd like to see one myself, I've got an idea or two for some neat what-if schemes and I'd also like to build the black NASA bird. We can keep hoping...

as for what I heard from a F-16 nut like myself he built the kit a few years ago and he basicly redid the whole airframe and even cockpit, he stated that it was easier to build one from scratch then to get all the flaws corrected but if you want one just for the sake of having one then build it, as for the 1/48 scale I would love to have one but Hasegawa hasn't had the urg to do this fantastic airplane, I had the Honor to do maintenance on the single seat aircraft when it broke at Nellis AFB back in the summer of '83, but they where calling it the F-16E(it was flying off with the F-15E) and the twin seater was dubbed F-16F but we know what happened, the F-15 won and the Scamps were left for scrap or NASA's use and mod's,
if you want to have one in 1/48 then get the Hasegawa's F-16A+ and go from there, I'd use the old Monogram's 1/72 XL for refferance and size adjustments this would be a beautiful addition to any collection

If that 1/32 kit is a reissue of the earlier 1/32 kit (I forgot who released it then) it is indeed trash. The XL is quite a bit longer than the F-16 for one thing, and the model was the same length.

I wish Monogram would reissue their 1/72 kit again. I'd like a second crack at these conversions I once did, with my current skills:
