Most Favorite Aircraft Model?

This may sound dumb, but I can't figure out how to e-mail people on the forum. Can you tell me how? Yeah, I was pretty excited about the box of junk; it must have had 75 different old built models, Hawk, Revell, Monogram, Aurora, etc. I sold the airliners to a friend, and kept only a Delta Convair 880. It was assembled unpainted on the stand, decaled, and I haven't yet figured out whether to redo it, or just leave it as is.

My favorites are the ones that I wanted for years, and then someone finally manufactured them. A few years back AMT did the YB-35 and the XB-70. It was a rush when the canopy masking came off and a real finished model was sitting on the bench!


Another favorite is this Aurora Lockheed XFV-1 . I bought a huge box of junk for $1.00 at a flea market. It included the XFV-1, some Convair airliners, an Aurora Blue Knight, etc. The XFV had no tail or propellers, and the canopy was painted over. I scratch built the tail, borrowed a prop from a Lindberg Pogo, polished the canopy, and had a rare bird in my collection.

I have few of them - Mc 202 Folgore (Hasegawa 1/48), P-40N (Eduard-ProfiPack 1/48) and Spitfire Mk II (Monogram 1/48) - they are models from my "come back" to hobby - and maybe this is the reason ... Regards ! Aleksander

mine would be the monogram B-17F in 1/48, is a very basic model, without much detail neither inside nor outside, its perfect to do a diorama, actually i am doing a diorama, is a good model, you can do a lot of things with models like those...

That would be for me the Lockheed Constellation from Heller. I've been building in the last couple of years 9 models and building number ten. And if I can find them two extra in KLM colours but they are Super Constellations.

Any Hasegawa 1/48 Phantom.
They beat any other toom kit hands down!

I have so many........I am torn between monogram's 1/48 f4j and revell's 1/32 ah-1g cobra. I got back into modelling a number of years ago because of the cobra

And mine must be the 1/32 Me-163 Komet from Hasegawa.

My favorite kit build of all time would have to be my Airmodel 1/72 F6U Pirate. I learned a lot of new modeling tricks and it taught me not to be afraid of vacs. I also really like this fascinating aircraft and it's contribution to modern aviation, namely the afterburner.

Mine has to be the old Hasegawa P-47 in 1/72 scale, both the razorback and bubbletop. I've been building the 56th Fighter Group since the 1970's and the Hasegawa kits outnumber any other kits on the shelf. Got 103 right now, not counting other Fighter Groups and nationalities.

the kit that I feel was the most favorite and fun to build would be the Hasegawa F-16C block 50 the kit has so many options of the little airframe I feel like Congress trying to sell the airplane to a 3rd world country when I build it, I got 8 in my inventory + I used to work them for 8 years so I have this little place in my heart for the plane any ways and the detail is great

My farovite so far has been the Academy 1/72 P-51C. I know - a little small for most of you, but it is pretty well engineered and detailed with plenty of options too.

I've built several of these so far and found it to be a quick fun build. Here is a short review for the kit.

My favourite aircraft model would be the Short Sunderland. Why? Well it was my first big model kit. No not the Airfix one but an old balsa one. Severalblocks for the fuselarge and engines and a printed sheet for wings tail etc. The instructions consisted of a sheet of 3 view drawings and a set of lines to get the shape right. No decals but a sheet of paper with the markings printed thereon. Cut 'em out and stick 'em on. I can still remember my mum sending me out into the shed when I went to paint it. No enamels but good old fashion dope, bannna oil and talcum powder. Ahh the smell. I later built the airfix 1:72 kit but it wasent the same. TTFN Dai.

A good question, my favorite model may not be the "best" model but just has good memories. In that case, I'd have to say the venerable Monogram 1/48th F-14 Tomcat which I've built about 7 times over 20 years. Each time I've built it, I improved upon it.

Funny thing is, I'm now building the Hasegawa 1/48th kit. Yes it is a superior kit, but it just doesn't have the memories.

For me, probably the Tamiya 48th Spitfire Mk Vb. It is my first "quality" model and it opened my eyes to how diverse a/c modeling can be.

My favorite model is the 1/48th Monogram B-17G. I have about 6 of them built and I'm working on number 7 which will be my last. This kit is old but still brings alot of pleasure when building it.

Janus, this is a very tough question. Many of my aircraft kits are equally loved. But, I have to admit that the most memorable one is my Monogram 1/32 P-51D Mustang. I built it almost 28 years ago. It was my birthday's present from my dad. I was stunned by it's moving parts: retractable landing gear, droping bombs and sliding canopy. The cockpit was also great, and not to mention the decals. It took me weeks to complete it and I played with it for years, because it was such a complex kit to build and yet I succeed in completing it. Although by today standards, it has many problems, it was a kit which let me built up my interest, and sense of achievement.
