I know this hasn't much relation to the topic, but back in '84, when I was 14, I went to a model contest in Blythesville, Arkansas. The hobbyshop the club went to had a MPC 1/48 EA-6B for sale. The box was huge to me and I thought it was the coolest thing since disco went away! Anyhow, as bad as I wanted it, this 14 year old didn't make that kind of money, and another member bought it that day. Fast forward 9 years, and this guy is selling off his models....and still has the kit in the box. I've had it ever since. Since then, I got a Monogram one as a gift, and the difference in the kits is astounding to me. My 2 cents [2c]

This reissue was, well, reissued in late September of 2003. I understand that Revell-Monogram is already listing it as "out of production", because they've made all that they're going to make for a while. Until they reissue it again! Hopefully the next time it will have recessed lines, a better cockpit, and provisions for wingfolds in the box. There's tons of online kit reviews if you type "1/48 ea-6b" in yahoo.com. I guess they all still are relevant, because the reissued kit is supposedly an exact copy of the one released about 10 yrs ago.

Is the reissue of this kit any good? I don't know how good it was orginally.

Gary,

The reissue you just bought...I'm guessing it doesn't have the updates (ADCAPs) made since it's last issue? Will I have to get an update kit as well? Thanks!

There is an EA-6B at Hobbytown in Fort Smith, AR as this is being typed. I know, because they had 2 and I only needed one! Big Smile [:D]

It would be pretty cool to see the Prowler re-issued! I want to model the aircraft of CVW-5 here and VAQ-136 has a FANTASTIC new scheme on the tail of their 500 bird! - Calvin

That is what I call GOOD GOOD news.
I have plenty of projects until then:
* Po-2 on ski
* Po-2 on wheels
* Skyhawk on Israeli markings and conversion
* ...and if it works fine with Po-2s (my first biplanes) maybe AEG G IV
all in 1/48.
Well, these are my plans for the next 4 years!!!
Cheers,

Don't pay the Evil Bay prices for the BB cockpit. In January 2004 they will be releasing a new and improved cockpit that will include wingfolds and other correction pieces. Bide your time and you will be ahead of the game.

I just bought the kit for $25 on 11 Oct 2003 at a local Indy hobby shop. It's just a reissued Monogram EA-6B from a few years ago, with an updated decal set. Still has raised panel lines.

The Revell-Monogram site lists this kit as having an August release date. They're releasing it under their "Selected Subjects" program.

As with most Revellogram kits the EA-6B has come and gone over the years, and this will just be the latest reissue of the kit.

If you're really hard up, there's two Prowlers on evilBay right now, though you'd probably be better off waiting for the reissue. The bidding looks to be going in the typical fashion and before you know it some DADS is gonna be paying $50 for this thing.

I wish they'd re-box the EA-6A. Of the three A-6 kits Revellogram have done over the years, that seems to be the toughest to find these days.

Rev/Mon could be a possibility. Why cause Monogram released one more than ten years ago.
That reminds me I have a few Prowlers that are calling my name!! What name that is I dont know?

Hi Dbsmith I don't know about Revell/Monogram doing this kit but Airfix has had it in their range for years. I haven't built it so i can't comment on its quality though....Greg Cool [8D]

EA-6B in 1/48th?
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, June 30, 2003 5:57 PM
Has anyone heard anything about Revell-Monogram releasing a 1/48th scale EA-6B Prowler? Great Models Webstore website says they're taking pre-orders but I can't find anything else about it. Revell-Monogram website doesn't say anything either.
Any clue?
