F-105 Thunderchief
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, July 9, 2003 10:19 AM
Looking for 1/72 and 1/48 scale F-105 Thunderchiefs. Currently have the Monogram kit that is very lacking. I am specifically lookinf for the F-105F version. Monograms version of the F has a G rear cockpit. I am interested in any and all aftermarket detail kits and accessories.

In 1/48 scale the Monogram kits are the only ones ever released as injection molded. I think there have been vac-forms but not sure. In 1/72 there is an old release by Hasegawa but the Monogram in 1/72 is actually better. Trumpeter is due to release a 1/32 F-105 very soon and this will likely be the ultimate Thud kit available, but a HUGE motha. I build mostly 1/48 and can only hope Trumpeter or some other quality manufacturer releases state of the art kits of all the Century series.

Airfix released a 105 in 72nd in the 80's which wasnt bad.
I dont know if it was a re release though.
The Hasegawa wasnt the best kit but I am planning to build a 48 scale G with
all the nice bits by Eduard , which nearly triples the kits price - has anyone used the Eduard cockpit and photoetched kits, and if so ,what were they like?
