Anyone know some good books/resources on scratch building? or some good personal knowledge you'd like to share. I'm trying to make a portion of an aircraft carrier deck.

Book for scratch building...... i dont there is any book on scratch building. but ther should be some chapter of it on books on advanced model building. you could try to down load AC drawing/blueprints as a start. FSM magazine have some articles on scratchbuilding specific models.

The best book that I know of (because I have it!!) on scratchbuilding is "Model Aircraft Tips and Techniques" by Mike Ashey, and is sold by Kalmbach Books (sound familiar?). Mike is a former Marine (OOH RAH!!!) who can build the hell out of models. You oughta see some of the planes he has in the book. Great stuff. Anyway, this book has some of the best scratchbuilding techniques that I've ever seen. And he makes it look SO EASY......................................... The book is overall red with a large picture of an F7F in the center of the cover, and three pictures of a Ju-88, a '30s biplane rigged for a dirigible, and a Japanese night fighter just below it. I highly recommend this book. I got my copy at a local hobby shop. It has a copyright date of 1998, so there should still be plenty of them around.
