I liked the Revell Germany WW2 fighters. I found that if I vacuformed new canopies that were much more to scale thickness they looked great when they were cut in the open position. Also I could scratch build a complete interior reletivly easily. You can drop the flaps and reset the elevators and rudders with just a little work. Good luck on the 1/144 models. I love 'em!

Academy have a number of larger planes in their catalogues such as the B-17, B-29, the Betty,... I started the Betty a couple years ago and it's a very neat little kit. It's just that I lost interest after a while...

Their Catalina is also excellent.
