All the control surfaces including the rudder should also be white. The interior
of the speed brakes and edges of landing gear doors should be red.

Hey nsclcctl,
If I'm not mistaken the top colour is Gull Gray FS16440(gloss finish) or you can use FS36440(flat finish).
I haven't built a Navy bird in awhile so you have to excuse me for the fact that I kinda lost track of the exact colour(s).
It might be a shade or two lighter or darker from the numbers that I gave you.

Mike, you are correct on the top colors (how about that for a change). Top was usually FS 16440 and gloss white underneath. All flight controls (ailerons, rudder, and stab) were also gloss white. Inside of the wheel wells were gloss white as were the inside of the intakes. Landing gear was also painted white. Speed brake insides, speed brake wells, inside of flaps and slats, and flap and slat wells were flat red. Edge of gear doors were painted gloss red.

I hope you guys read this. I am absolutely confused. In this kit, Italera A-4E/F skyhawk, there are the worst instructions. This goes along with a post I have in the general area called annoyances. These instructions are hideous.

If anyone has done this model, please chime in.

On the vertical stabilizer (tail to me), there is a piece of plastic which appears to be molded in. It is on both sides, perfect fit. They say to cut it off. Why was it there in the first place? It is not going to be easy to remove bevcause there is no seam. It is part of the tail. Secondly, there is an antennae or something coming out of the stabilizer. Again, they say cut it off. Why would they include this int he mold and then want me to cut it off? Anyone build this thing before?

I am also taken aback by the size differentail. I just built Italera 1:72 F14 and F18. They are big. This A4 skyhawk is 1:72 and tiny. Is that true? Was this indeed a small plane? What kind of ordinance did it carry?

It's true...The A-4 WAS a tiny airplane. It was called the "scooter", the "Tinkertoy",
and, Heinemann's Hotrod. The A-4 was able to carry more than it's own basic weight in fuel and ammunition. What did it carry? EVERYTHING! It carried rockets, missles, iron bombs and nuclear weapons.
