Gazelle Helicopter......
Posted by kellyshero on Thursday, July 17, 2003 4:14 PM
Hi Guys
Anyone out there know of a 1/32 or 1/48 scale kit of this lovely chopper?
Has anyone built the airfix 1/72 version? What was it like?

Fujimi makes a 1/48 scale of it, but I don't know how hard it would be to find.

Hi Kellyshero,

Like Demon69 mentioned: Fujimi makes one, but also Heller had a 1:50 (darn those Heller Scales) which is better than the Fujimi; the landing gear on the Heller is not as oversized as on the Fujimi, which makes the Heller look a lot better.
I also built the Airfix Gazelle, but I'm affraid 1:72 is actually too small for this helicopter: the rotorhead looks way too massive on the Airfix. If I remember correctly, fit wasn't too good either on the Airfix: I had to cut a major portion of the interior away to make the fuselagehalves fit. Must admit though: overall looks of the fuselage are ok, and can you complain considering the low price of the kit...

Hope this information is of any help, good luck!

I'm pretty sure one of my local shops has one of the Fujimi kits...

But there's one on evilBay at the moment.
