color of guns

What color are guns on planes? I use gunmetal, is that too simple?

For instance, those guns sticking out of the wing in corsairs and other WWII fighters vs the guns on the wings of an A4 Skyhawk. Then, how about the ones in the turrets of B17s?

Gunmetal works.....

I usually use a bit of black with some metallic blue mixed in and get a good mix.

I usually do mine wit ha black basecoat, then a light drybrush of silver on top. Finish off by washing with a metallic wash.

Paint them black then use graphite to give them that metallic look. I use the lead of pencils. It's handy, cheap and easy to apply...
