Heyas Butz,
I ended up using a metal foil glue called "gold leaf size" by old world art. It was about 5.50 for 8 oz as opposed to 2.50 for 1 oz from microscale. Basically it's the same stuff, water soluable when wet, turps or acetone (cutex) when dried. I applied it with a soft 2" wide brush on a sizable sheet and cut my sections out of that. I was begining to have thickness issues with the microscale and some people (on this forum) suggested to try the gold leaf glue - good recommend.
I didn't thin it, tho if I were it try airbrushing it, I would probably try alcohol on a 60/40 mix - then immediately clean the AB.

I was really beginning to get the hang of this by the time I got to the nose. The plane at this point don't look too bad fron 8ft or moreShy [8)]

This one is going to get the Thunderbirds treatment (monogram decals - thick but should work). I think that I am going to try to hide some of my inexperience by tinting some panels and really buffing others.Smile [:)]

ThanksBig Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

Hey wibhi2,
I give ya two thumbs up for that one my friend. So far it looks great.
I figured that doing a BMF a/c would be kind of time consuming to do..!! What type of glue did you use and did you have to thin the glue a bit or did you put it on full strenght??
So what markings are you going to put her in?? Cant wait to see the final results. Just hang in there my friend you can do it!!Big Smile [:D]
Flaps up, Mike

Finally got most of the aluminum skin on. It's a very interesting process (and time consuming) to say the least. I am not very happy with my first attempt at finishing a model this way, but I gotta practice some time. It certainly has taught me alot. I do like the natural metal finish, just my application is horridBig Smile [:D]Black Eye [B)]Big Smile [:D]

Here are some picts of it so far (man, do I need a tripod)

Some of my seam work you can see in these picts (tho not very clear). I need to plan my seams better. Also, I used a metal scribe to rescribe the panels lines on this monogram kit - they are too petite for the foil, would have been fine for metalizers.
What you also don't see is how horrid the wing undersides look (brush stokes, unevenly applied glue and so on.

If you plan on trying this make sure your filled seams are letter perfect, for they will show otherwise..[:0]

I plan on doing this again, but I am going to take a very different tack ie: not fully assemble the model first, use panel lines as a overlap joint, use a plastic scribe, find away to thin the glue enough to put a light coat down with my airbrush and so on.

chalk anudder one up to experience (and back of the shelf)Blush [:I]

have funBig Smile [:D]Tongue [:P]Big Smile [:D]
