Aircraft engine pics: Like to share some
Posted by Bones-coa on Tuesday, July 29, 2003 10:56 PM
I'm not sure if I posted this in the past, but I live not far from the Mighty 8th Air Force Museam here in Savannah GA. This establishment has several WWII aircraft engines that I snapped a few pics of. I'd love to share them but I'm not sure where to post them. Any suggestions? Here's what I have pics of:

Allison V-1710
Wright Cyclone
Packard V-1650 Merlin
Pratt & Whitney R2800-43 Double Wasp (This is actually a cutaway)

All these engines appear to be "crate engines". Meaning they were factory new or rebuilt and never installed in an aircraft. Meaning that they are nice and shiny and revealing their true colors. Not dirt, greas or wear.

I also have a few pics of a B-47's wheel wells.

Let me know where I could post them. The more I think about it though, I may be able to set up an FTP. Ideas?

I went ahead and posted them in my personal space:

These pics are somewhat large and may take a moment to load. Let me know if they helped you guys with anything. I'd love to know how you may be able to use them. They definatly helped me.

Great pics. I been looking for good engine colour information for awhile now.
