Predator UAV model?
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, August 6, 2003 6:36 PM
I'm a Sensor Operator on the Predator UAV in the Air Force...That being said, does anyone know where I can find a scale model of one? Also, on the off chance that anyone has any questions about the UAV, I'd be more then happy to answer!

Actually, I've been toying with the idea of scratchbuilding one using laminated sheet styrene and a LOT of sanding. Are all of the Predators currently in service coded WA? I've got a few photos of them in both Afghanistan and Iraq. I think I'll probably build one as an Afghanistan Hellfire carrying one. Any advice?

Thanks!

Yes, all Predators are coded WA. Also, it doesn't have to be an Afghan Pred to carry Hellfires. We have those in Iraq too. There's really no difference between the ones in Afghan and the ones in Iraq. Some tail numbers of Hellfire birds are 43, 61, and 80. Anything else?

unicraft (in the ukraine) makes a resin 1/72 model of the predator plus I think some variations or next model with upgrade to engine. He also makes a Global Hawk, and several other UAVs, all in 1/72. I have never bought one, although I plan to purchase one of his Luft 46 models (or 2 or 3). I have read some good reviews, and even though his business is in Ukraine, it does not seem too difficult to purchase from USA (accepts paypal). Predator is $25 includes hellfires and decals.

There'a a quarter inch scale model kit of the Predator, but I'm a loss to remember who makes the darned thing. The resin kit's pretty good, though.
