Spare Parts
Posted by nsclcctl on Friday, August 8, 2003 11:33 PM
Ever had one that just gives you problems that you can't solve? I am battling a corsair, 1:48 Tamiya right now that is driving me nuts. I am very very close to putting it in the box and just using the decals to re-do an earlier version I built a few years ago whose decals are shredded. The rest will serve as spare parts. I simply cannot get the cowling and the flaps right. The airvents or cowl flaps are all screwed up. I have glued and they have simply deteriorated. I have had it. Even thought of trimming it back and mounting the cowling directly to the fuselage but I think it would look very weird. I belive I need to move on. Any other stories?

good idea about putting it away but, keep it complete, just come back at it after you built a kit or 2, then when you rehit it then MOST of the time I've found the solution to the problem, it's easier to leave it and come back later then to destroy a perfectly good model,
as Frankie used to say"RELAX"

I agree, putting it away may be just the ticket. Right now, your attention may be fixed on "the problem. " Returning at a later date, you may not even remember what the problem was. Let the "Problem Gremlin" go. Their power usuall fades with time. Try to save that beautiful kit from him. Best wishes, Pix.
