Thanks!Approve [^]Approve [^]

I will do a little experimenting and see how those look to the pics. Hopefully they are right on the money. Like I said its a bootleg paint job and the shades might be off depending on what was laying around the shop when she was sprayed.

The European I paint colors were FS-34102, FS-34079 and FS-36081. The European ll changed the FS-36081 to FS-36118. Both were wrap around paint jobs. The gray replaced the tan color FS-30219.

The Thud in the euro scheme was actually my fathers and is the thud on the Twobobs sheet named MyKarma. She was done at Hill AFB as a favor and was the only Thud with this scheme. I am currently working on a 1.32 scale D model with that scheme now. Tracking the exact colors down is proving to be a bit of a problem due ot the fact it was a bootleg job and not recorded. I will get a link up with pics once I get her done.

Hey Junkman;
Well here's another scheme for you on the old Thud back in the late 70's til their retirement they had the SEA wrap around, the AF deleted the color FS 36622 on the bellys and mirrored the bottoms to the tops, and then came the Euro I schemes, they where just the DK & LT Greens minus the Tan I've seen both types when the AF Reserve unit from Hill (before they got F-16's) came to Nellis for Red Flag in 82-83 when I was stationed there and they had both schemes, that'll make an intresting conversation piece in your collection,
have fun & relax

Wheel wells were painted O.D. Green, Green Zinc Chromate, Aluminum, Silver and finally White. It depended on what the squadron had in it's inventory. Most pictures prior to 1972 show the Thuds with Aluminum gear doors and O.D. Green wheel wells. Bottom of the Thuds were painted Chamoflauge Gray untill the 1970's when they started using white.

Every fourt aircraft that was sent to SEA was painted in the reverse scheme. They simply reversed the Dark Tan with the Medium Green.

The colors are, FS-34079, FS-34102, FS-30219 topside. Bottom is FS-36622, inside wheel wells and intakes is gloss white.

The F-105 was the first acft painted in SEA and some units did not paint as per directions. Some acft even had their camouflage colors reversed. Check on which acft you are modeling to come up with the correct pattern.

My Thud photos show topside colors light green, dark green and brown over a light gray underside. Radome is flat black and silver probe on nose.
