Stripping Future
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, February 4, 2003 6:24 AM
What can be used to strip Future from a clear canopy without damaging the canopy? I dipped the parts of an Me 109, but I don't really like the results, and I would like to try again.

Any Suggestions?

You should have no problem removing it with rubbing or denatured alcohol. Just remember that if you're using water based paints the alcohol will attack the paint. I haven't had a lot of experience with this so hopefully others will have some ideas.

Yep, alcohol has worked for me. I've also heard windex will work too. I assume your canopy is not attached yet, which will make the whole operation much easier. If it's already attached, I would recommend 'popping' it off somehow and working with it off the model.

I think I read the future bottle and it said to remove with ?amonia? of course that was for floors so I don't know if amonia will jack up the clear plastic or not.

Thanks for the help! The parts are not installed or painted yet, so it should not be too big of a deal. What happened is the future puddled up in the recesses between the glass and framing, leaving a line there when it dried. By the third part, I got good at using a rag to absorb the excess, but being a perfectionist, (which is a bad habit) with your help, I'll get it right this time!

Thanks again!
