What would you name it?

OK, the aircraft company you work for has created the most ass-kicking, meanest looking, ground attack aircraft ever made. It's your job to name name this bad boy. Something that hasn't been used before, and let's be real, a name like "Disemboweler", would never be used. I kind of like "Hammer".

Skyhammer?

Ruthless Buzzard?

The Winged Wrecking Ball?

George Foreman?

Sorry, not and entirely serious answer!

I do like "Skyhammer," though.

Warthog. :D You can't get much more kick-assy, mean-looking, or effective than that.

Okay, okay. A new one: Thantos (Greek for death).

Matbe I should mention just what this plane is capable of, in addition to the usual ordinance found on the A-10 it has:

50mm chain gun with 'Active" uranium shells

Flame thrower

Proton torpedoes

"Acme" anvils

Water balloons (The paint filled kind, not that sissy stuff)

I'm not sure you need to name it anything, any enemy that came within sight of the thing wouldn't last long enough to care what you called it. :-)

With all that heavy weaponry, what are you using to get it off the runway into the air in the first place? How many engines and how much horsepower a piece?

Don't name it anything if you can't get it into the air to scare anyone with! :-)

You could call it Devastator II after the the Midway torpedo planes, and this time mean it, or you could call it the Pixie and fake out the enemy.

Got a whoooole bunch

Shrike
Broadsword
Annihilator
Apocalypse
Dragon
Centurion
Rapier
Gladius
Crossbow
Excalibur
Adjudicator
Knight
Mantis
Chimera
Palomino
Basilisk
Wyvern
Hellhound
Brute
Minx
Hellion

Kraken - sea-monster, good for attack aircraft, particularly ASW aircraft

Ajax - a character from the Odyssey, lives in Hades, sounds cool and would provide a skeleton character for squadron insignia

Wraith - good for a stealth fighter

Dervish - good for a helicopter

Amazon - warrior, would be great for adorning squadron insignia similarly to how the way Tomcat squadrons have the Tomcat

Savage - it has been used before, but it sounds so awesome, then again, it might be thought politically incorrect

Instigator - this one is just trouble

Phoenix

I know it's only rock and roll, but I like it.
