if you use GBU-12's do not use three. The reason is because the folded wings have a chance at puncturing the wing tanks. On a TER they are loaded on center-bottom station and the outboard station. I know this because I am an armament technician and have loaded on F-16's for ten years.

Hey transam,
I hear ya but I have a lot of reference material that mentions GBU-16 Paveway II 1000-lb LB that has a Mk 83 warhead.
As I'm looking it appears that the 16s are foreign based that carry the GBU-16.
So our 16s may not carry them as do the foreign ones.
If you check out Lockheed Martin F-16 A/B/C/D by Daco Publications you'll see what I mean and "F-16 Lockheed Martin weekly".

I have loaded the 16 for 12 years from test to active units and have never seen a MK-83. The main stay for the F-16 today is GBU-12, GBU-10, GBU-24, and GBU-31 or JDAM as well as AIM-9, and AIM-120. Laser guided and GPS guided is the wave of the future.

thanks for the help guys. I'll be using 2 single gbu-12's on stations 3 and 7. (i would've loved to use the 1000lb bombs but the "guiding holes" on them didn't match the ones on the pod, but it will still look pretty mean with the 500 lb toys)

thanks again

I forgot to add also if the GBU-12 is loaded on a TER the y are only loaded on the outboard and bottom stations of the TER it is called a slant load for the obvious reasons.

I think I can help a little here since I am a weapons loader on F-16s The GBU-10 is actually the bigger bomb at 2000 lbs and it is carried singly on sta 3 or 7, the GBU12 is smaller at 500 lbs and is carried on a TER or singly on 3or 7. MERs are not flown on F-16s. This may be a little late but this is my first day on the site and am already hooked.

Hey stang,
Your best bet would to put either one GBU 12(500lb) or one GBU 10(1000lb) on the 3 & 7 stations.
With the reference material that I have, these GBU's were hung alone on the pylons(Uncovering the Lockheed Martin F-16 A/B/C/D(Daco Publ) and F-16 Lockheed Horizon).
As for the "TER" ( Triple Ejector Rack) and "MER", photos show MK 82 "500lb HDGP, Mk 82 500lb LDGP/ 25lb practice bombs and the like were fitted onto these racks.
Basically just check w/ your references.

thank you much! I'm gonna order the kits along with some decals, meanwhile I'll go with a single gbu-10 on each of the 2 weapon stations to get the model going.

Stangfanatic,

You need to have a rack called a "MER/TER", which is an acronym for "Multiple Ejection Rack/Tactical Ejection Rack". At least, that's what we called them in the Marines. I'm sure that the Air Force had their own name for them. Anway, these racks mounted to the bottom of a pylon, and you could then mount bombs on these racks, usually with three bombs in a V configuration on the front, and three more on the rear of the rack in the same configuration. The racks increased the load-carrying capability of the pylon. The racks should be a part of the Hasegawa Weapons Set A. I have all four Hasegawa Weapons Sets (A - D), and it seems that Set A is the only set that has what I believe you're looking for. Hope this helps!!

Hasegawa f-16c and hasegawa a/c weapons question..
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, August 14, 2003 3:28 PM
I had an old hasegawa aircraft weapons kit (kit b) around and since I'm working on an f-16, I figured i could use either the GBU-10 or GBU-12 bombs to complement stations 7 and 3.

According to the graph, the gbu-12's are carried in groups of 3. but I can't seem to figure out how to get these big monsters on the weapon pylons that came with the aircraft kit. Anyone ever dealt with this particular situation?

My other resort is to use the smaller gbu-10's singly, since they seem to fit the pylons for those stations.
