Add the Lockheed PV-1 Ventura to Paul Boyer's list. There's a good photo of one in THE OFFICIAL MONOGRAM US NAVY & MARINE CORPS AIRCRAFT COLOR GUIDE, VOL 2, 1940-1949.

I'm thinking about building my 1/72 Academy kit of the Ventura using the Atlantic ASW scheme. It will look good, and a lot easier than the standard tri-tone. Wink [;)] Would also like to build an FM-2 in this scheme.

The "Atlantic" anti-submarine scheme is dark gull gray over white. An interim scheme before the final Atlantic scheme consisted of dark gull gray tops, light gull gray sides, white bottoms. Photos of aircraft in this first scheme are rare, though. Most received the later scheme. You can apply it to Helldivers, Dauntlesses, Avengers, Wildcats, PBYs, PBMs and PB4Y-1s. It did not apply to Hellcats and Corsairs, but wouldn't they have looked sharp?

What is the atlantic scheme for carrier planes, Dauntless, avenger so forth? I know it is grey on grey but which ones? I assume it is not a tricolor like the Pacific.
