Hey Ross, I recently bought this kit. I haven't started on it yet but I've noticed the bumps on the cowling are bisected by a seam (front cowling ring and rear). How did you clean up the seam? Did the bumps line up well or did you have to fill, sand and smooth each one? Please, let me know!!

This is an old ESCI kit so the fit is really poor, to complicate matters you must trap the engine in between the two cowling pieces all while it is mounted to the front of the fuselage. I dry fit the pieces as best I could, cemented the first cowling piece in place, mounted the engine and then glued the second cowling piece in place. I used lots of liquid cement to create an ooze once the two pieces were glued. After word I used my the backside of my X-Acto to do most of the clean up work, from their it was light sanding. The glue and ooze is what I felt made this much easier than it could have otherwise been.

Ross, thanks for the info. Sounds like the kit is a bit of a challenge but isn't that why we do this?

I am also building this little honey and , in addition to what ross did, I removed the locating pin for the cowl halves.

Very nice looking kit. Looks like your hard work on a difficult build paid off.
