Thanks people, I just went out and purchased a gallon of mineral spirits (I couldn't get it in a smaller size) and it smells like the Testors product so I guess that's a good sign. Now I have to paint something so I can try it out.

my experience with acrylics is on the tamiya i dont thin i just run straight through the airbrush but if i do thin i use windshield washer fluid works good. on the enamels i use the modelmaster thinner but clean with mineral spirits that makes it alot cheaper

For enamels, I use laquer thinner both for cleanup and thinning. At less than
$5.00 per gallon, it can't be beaten. I have never experienced damage to my
airbrushes or models from it's use. I know NOTHING about acrylics.

For enamels, I use the recommended thinner. To save $$, I use the hardware-store thinners to clean my brush. Hope this helps ! Pix.

Lpolpo22- I assume your talking about Enamels not Acrylics.

With MM Enamels, use oderless mineral spirits for clean-up. It has worked great for me for many years. Just use their Thinner for thinning the paint.

Thanks dubix88. Yes Isopropyl Alcohol does work very well as a Thinner for acrylics but if you try to use it with enamels you air probably need a new airbrush. I don't want to make that mistake again.

Is there a substitute for Testors/Model Master Airbrush Thinner? I use it as a cleaner as well as a thinner and it would be nice to be able to get it cheaper and in larger amounts.
